Tamil Nadu SEZ region posts record ₹2.2 lakh crore exports in 2025-26

In June 2026, the Tamil Nadu–Andaman and Nicobar Islands–Puducherry (TAP) SEZ region reported record exports of ₹2.2 lakh crore in 2025-26, up from ₹2.03 lakh crore in the previous financial year, according to MEPZ Development Commissioner Alex Paul Menon.

• The TAP region has 62 functional SEZs, of which 50 are in Tamil Nadu, including the 43-year-old Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ).
• Cumulative investment in the region stood at ₹82,844 crore in 2025-26, including FDI of ₹8,677.9 crore.
• IT and ITES contributed about 88.4% of export earnings, amounting to ₹1.9 lakh crore.
• The region’s 300-odd export-oriented units employ 6.26 lakh workers, and 18,888 new jobs were added in 2025-26.
• MEPZ has 107 functional units, 13 in the pipeline, and recorded ₹7,063 crore exports with ₹3,600 crore total investment.
