Transliteration

Ilarpala Raakiya Kaaranam Norpaar
Silarpalar Nolaa Thavar

English Translation

Many are poor and few are rich For they care not for penance much

ஆற்றல் இல்லாதவர் பலராக உலகில் இருப்பதற்குக் காரணம் தவம் செய்கின்றவர் சிலராகவும், செய்யாதவர் பலராகவும் இருப்பதே ஆகும்.

The many all things lack! The cause is plain,The 'penitents' are few The many shun such pain

Explanation

Because there are few who practise austerity and many who do not, there are many destitute and few rich in this world
