How to Take Your TNPSC Application Photo at Home

A compliant TNPSC photo needs a white background, even light and correct framing, all achievable at home with a phone and ten minutes.

  1. Step 1
Set up against a plain white wall
Stand half a metre in front of the wall (to kill shadows), face a window for even daylight, no overhead lights casting face shadows.
  2. Step 2
    Frame head and shoulders
Camera at eye level, straight face, both ears visible, neutral expression, plain dark clothing contrasts best with the white background.
  3. Step 3
    Take several, pick the sharpest
Check for shadows behind the head and reflections on glasses. Natural daylight beats any filter, use none.
  4. Step 4
    Resize to the exact spec
Crop to a passport-style frame, then run it through our photo resizer for 3.5×4.5cm at 20-50KB, with name and date added only if your notification asks.
