Transliteration

Kannullaar Kaadha Lavaraakak Kannum
Ezhudhem Karappaakku Arindhu

English Translation

My lover in my eyes abides I paint them not lest he hides

எம் காதலர் கண்ணினுள் இருக்கின்றார், ஆகையால் மை எழுதினால் அவர் மறைவதை எண்ணிக் கண்ணுக்கு மையும் எழுதமாட்டோம்.

My love doth ever in my eyes reside;I stain them not, fearing his form to hide

As my lover abides in my eyes, I will not even paint them, for he would (then) have to conceal himself
